Just a quick FYI regarding AI in Tiberium Dawn
Main Post:
The original Command and Conquer didn't even have AI. This is is why there was never a skirmish mode: the absence of any AI meant skirmish modes simply did not work. I remember mods that attempted to add Skirmish to the base game and the AI players would literally do NOTHING.
So how did it work? The entire game was scripted. Every enemy attack was merely a timed script. Every building that the AI built? The game was hard coded to replace any destroyed buildings in the exact same place. It didn't "decide" to replace the building, it was simply scripted to. This is why the enemy would be able to build outwith it's build range. Because it was scripted.
This is why the enemy would launch everything at you when you attacked it's harvester. The game could not "think" and decide to attack the single gunman with a buggie. It couldn't do anything complex. It was simply scripted to attack with all units when the harvester was attacked. A simple parameter.
This is also why the AI always attacks your northern most building with air strikes, ion cannons or nukes. The game could not "think" and decide what to target, or what was important. It was simply scripted to attack the northern most building.
The original command and conquer was very basic. It relied entirely on scripts.
But guess what? This is what gives the original command and conquer it's amazing charm. It's quirks. It's cheesey exploits.
I am delighted the devs kept it this way. It is authentic.
But it must be realised that they even went through the effort of implementing a Skirmish mode. I've not given it much of a go yet but I assume it uses AI akin to RA1. That's a massive add-on for the 1st C&C!
So please remember: If this game had been given proper AI in campaign it would not be the same game. It wouldn't be authentic.
I praise the devs for creating this experience and resisting the temptation to modernise it too much. It's literally everything I could hope for. I really feel like a child again. An example of the meaning remastered.
Thanks to all those who made it happen <3
Edit: I know the "AI" has been improved for campaign. Seems to have a much more extended set of scripts. (Which is how old AI worked anyway) In my current playthrough, however, I'm a few missions in on medium difficulty and the same exploits are still there e.g. attacking harvester = all units attack. I dare say on hard or more difficult campaign missions the AI might behave very differently. I also didn't mean to suggest that the AI still always attacks your northern most building with its powers, that has been patched. To our dismay, it seems lol.

I didn’t know all that. That’s really cool.

It’s not an AI. One.

So it's not ethic if I want to learn programming to look other's code? Or If I want to play the piano play other's music? Or cook typical plates for learning cuisine? Or reading otther's books to learn how to write? Or watch video of pro skaters to learn how to skate? I must be missing something because I don't find anything bad with that.

Just learned about this not too long ago and our company recently adopted it. It has been a game changer for prospecting content! The rapid writer function that adds a dose of humor is classic. Better than ChatGpt and way more functional for sales workflows. For example, I can pull up a prospects LI profile and with a few clicks, Regie will generate personalized messaging. I don’t spend time revising like I often do with ChatGpt. It’ll also create a sequence and dump it into HubSpot in seconds.
Update: We used a promotional version through a partnership they had which was when I shared the experience above. Once we integrated the extension things went bonkers. It doesn't play well with HubSpot and I echo user feedback below that the UI is all over the place which made it really hard to drive adoption which is required for more quality responses. The messaging at baseline is the same as most AI these days ... but I did appreciate that it synthesized the data from LI which rivals anything else I've tried (albeit the bar is low). It didn't make a difference in email or cadence performance (engagement, open rates, etc.) but did help us make sequences a little more efficient (quanitity over quality though so was nice for activity metrics but who cares if it doesn't bring in different results $$$).
Top Comment: This is a shill. Our company bought their service 8 months ago and it has been nothing but a shitshow. The automated messaging is terrible, and the UI scatterbrained. That could be forgiven if it could actually craft good messaging, but half the time all it comes up with is "Wow due to your 15 years in HR experience I'm sure XXX resonates with you!" Then they just keep adding features that work like absolute trash because they are half baked. Like a dux soup like linkedin automator that get stuck every 10 seconds and even got several of my colleagues banned from linkedin. Avoid avoid avoid. I anticipate this company will close its doors in a few years if not sooner.
I asked Will.i.am's AI chatbot, FYI, how can we make Mega64 funny?
Main Post:
Definitely think they should incorporate more puns into their work.
